We’re going to be super together

We're excited to share an update on our strategic growth, aimed to bring you even better quality and value.

In June 2023, Spirit Super and CareSuper signed a joint agreement to merge.

Our funds share a vision to become a mid-sized industry super fund with a distinctive focus on customer experience and retirement confidence.

Our merger is on track to take effect on 1 November 2024, so you can look forward to being part of an even stronger fund that has your best interests at heart.

What’s changing?

From 1 November it’s our intention to be called CareSuper. Our commitment to you won’t change and neither will our award-winning service.

So, when you visit our website and app from 1 November, you’ll still recognise our distinctive green Australia map icon, but our name will be different.

Why merge with CareSuper?

Like us, CareSuper is a high performing, profit-to-member industry super fund.

In 2023 we were both named in the top 10 performing funds over 10 years by the peak ratings agency SuperRatings. This year, we’ve both been highly successful in the prestigious WeMoney 2024 superannuation awards:

  • Spirit Super – Best for Quality; runner up Superannuation Fund of the Year (Industry).
  • CareSuper –  Best for Flexibility; Best for Member Benefits.

Together, we’ll grow sustainably so we can keep bringing you the outstanding value and service that you’re used to.

What if I need help with my superannuation?

We plan to keep and expand our award-winning customer service model and Australian contact centre.1

This means when you call, email or chat with us online, we’ll be here with the information and support you need when you need it.

1 Spirit Super has been ranked number one for customer service in the finance sector (Customer Service Benchmarking Australia, ten consecutive wins since 2022).

Keep an eye out for our updates as we keep you informed about the merger and what it means for you. For more details, visit spiritsuper.com.au/merger-info.

Awards and ratings are only one factor to be taken into account when deciding how to invest your super.

Spirit Super has an agreement with SuperRatings Pty Ltd (SuperRatings) ABN: 95 100 192 283 a Corporate Authorised Representative (CAR No.1309956) of Lonsec Research Pty Ltd ABN 11 151 658 561, AFSL No. 421445 (Lonsec Research) for the provision of research, reporting and marketing services, which permits us to use the SuperRatings logos for marketing purposes. Read about the award methodology at https://www.superratings.com.au/.

Spirit Super has an agreement with WeMoney Pty Ltd (ABN 88 633 007 860) permitting it to use the WeMoney logos, and for WeMoney to promote Spirit Super’s recognition through the WeMoney Awards. Read about the award methodology at wemoney.com.au.

Spirit Super has an agreement with Customer Service Benchmarking Australia (CSBA) (ABN 82 623 476 007) for quality assurance and staff training within our contact centre. Read about the award methodology at csba.com.au.

Direct flights from Hobart to Auckland will make an exciting return in October as part of the Sweet As Reunion between Tasmania and New Zealand.

Hobart to Auckland flights with Air New Zealand will start on October 27 and fly three days a week across the Tasman on a Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. The popular route first started in April 2021 and was paused by Air New Zealand in April this year to allow for fleet maintenance works.

The Hobart to Auckland service provides an additional 24,000 international seats inbound and outbound through to March 2025.  Last year, around 10 per cent of passengers flying into Hobart from Auckland during the previous peak were North American visitors, who can fly to Australia via Auckland, and avoid the congestion of the mainland hubs.
